Pre-care and post-care instructions are crucial for the success of any treatment. To minimize the risk of complications and achieve the best possible results, it is essential to carefully follow the guidelines below.
Before your facial or hydra facial, avoid sun exposure and exfoliation for 24-48 hours to ensure the best results. Refrain from using retinol or retinoids for at least 3-5 days to minimize irritation and sensitivity. Additionally, avoid laser treatments and chemical peels for at least 2 weeks prior to your facial to prevent skin irritation.
After your facial or hydra facial, avoid washing your face for 4-6 hours, sun exposure, and makeup for 12-24 hours, and always apply sunscreen (SPF 30+). Keep your skin hydrated with a gentle moisturizer, and refrain from exfoliating or using harsh products for 3-5 days. Drink plenty of water, and avoid hot showers, saunas, or intense exercise for 24-48 hours.
It's recommended to get a facial every 4 to 6 weeks. This timing aligns with your skin's natural renewal cycle, which typically takes around 28 days, helping to maintain healthy, radiant skin. However, the ideal frequency can vary depending on your age, skin type and concerns. For example, if you're addressing specific issues like acne, dryness, or hyperpigmentation, more frequent facials may be beneficial.
Not suitable for individuals with active skin conditions like acne cysts, eczema, rosacea, or dermatitis, or those with sunburned, irritated, or compromised skin. Contraindications also include recent surgery or skin injuries, pregnancy or breastfeeding, active cold sores, and those using strong medications like retinoids or Accutane. Additionally, individuals with blood disorders, circulatory issues, or severe allergies to skincare ingredients should avoid facials.
Before waxing, avoid sun exposure, tanning beds, and harsh exfoliation for at least 48 hours. Make sure the area to be waxed is clean and free of lotions or oils. If you’re using any topical treatments like retinol or acne medication, refrain from applying them to the area for a few days prior to waxing to prevent irritation. Additionally, make sure your hair is at least ¼ inch long for optimal results. Avoid caffeine or alcohol before your appointment, as they can make your skin more sensitive.
After waxing, avoid sun exposure, hot showers, saunas, and swimming for 24-48 hours. Keep the area clean and moisturized with a gentle, fragrance-free lotion. Avoid tight clothing and scratching, and if redness occurs, apply a cold compress or aloe vera to soothe the skin.
The perfect length for a new waxing session is typically 1/4 inch (about the length of a grain of rice). This allows the wax to effectively grip the hair and remove it from the root, providing the best results. For optimal outcomes, it's recommended to schedule your waxing session every 4 weeks to ensure the hair has grown to the ideal length, ensuring a smoother and more effective experience.
Waxing is not recommended for those with active skin conditions, sunburn, or broken skin. Avoid waxing if using retinol, acne treatments, or after recent chemical peels or laser treatments. It’s also advised to consult with a healthcare provider if you're pregnant or breastfeeding.
Before getting a lash lift or extensions, avoid using waterproof mascara or oil-based makeup removers for at least 24 hours. Make sure your lashes are clean and free from makeup, oils, and residue when you come to your appointment. If you wear contact lenses, please remove them beforehand. Refrain from using eyelash serums or treatments for at least a week before your appointment to ensure optimal results. Avoid caffeine or alcohol beforehand, as they can make your eyes more sensitive.
After a lash lift or extensions, avoid water, steam, or moisture for the first 24-48 hours to allow the lift to set or the adhesive to bond properly. Refrain from rubbing your eyes or touching your lashes, and avoid oil-based makeup and makeup removers, as they can weaken the adhesive. Keep your lashes clean, gently brushing them with a clean spoolie if needed, and avoid mascara, especially waterproof formulas.
For lash extensions, schedule touch-ups every 2-3 weeks, as your natural lashes shed, and new ones grow. A lash lift can be touched up every 6 weeks, or as needed, to maintain the desired look. Following these steps will help keep your lashes looking their best.
Lash lifts and extensions are not recommended for individuals with active eye infections, eye conditions (such as conjunctivitis or blepharitis), or recent eye surgery. Those with sensitive eyes or allergies to adhesives, latex, or certain ingredients in the lash products should avoid these treatments. If you have excessive lash shedding or damage, it’s best to wait until your lashes are healthy before getting extensions or a lift.
Avoid using retinol, exfoliating products, or any harsh treatments on your brows for at least 48 hours, as these can make the skin more sensitive. Make sure your brows are clean and free of makeup, oils, and residue. If you're using any brow serums or growth products, discontinue them a few days before your appointment for optimal results. Avoid sun exposure or tanning for 1 to 2 weeks prior.
Avoid getting your brows wet for the first 24 hours. Refrain from rubbing or touching them, and avoid applying makeup, oils, or harsh products to the area. Do not expose your brows to steam, saunas, or excessive sweating for at least 48 hours. Keep your brows clean and moisturized with a gentle, non-oily product. For laminated brows, avoid sleeping on your face or in a way that may press your brows out of shape.
For brow tinting, touch-ups are typically needed every 3-6 weeks, as the tint fades over time. Brow lamination usually lasts about 6-8 weeks before a touch-up is recommended, depending on hair growth and desired shape. Brow design (shaping) may require maintenance every 3-4 weeks to keep the shape fresh. However, the frequency of touch-ups can vary depending on your individual brow growth and maintenance preferences.
Not recommended for individuals with active eye infections, eye conditions (such as conjunctivitis or blepharitis), or recent eye surgery. Those with sensitive eyes or allergies to adhesives, latex, or certain ingredients in the lash products should avoid these treatments. If you have excessive lash shedding or damage, it’s best to wait until your lashes are healthy before getting extensions or a lift. If pregnant or breastfeeding, you should consult with your doctor.
Before your permanent makeup appointment, avoid alcohol, caffeine, and blood thinners (like aspirin) for at least 24 hours to minimize sensitivity and bleeding. Refrain from tanning, waxing, or using exfoliating products on the area for a few days prior. Additionally, avoid laser treatments or chemical peels for at least 2 weeks before your appointment. Make sure your skin is clean and free of makeup on the day of the procedure, and inform your technician of any allergies or skin conditions.
After your permanent makeup appointment, avoid touching, scratching or picking at the treated area, and keep it clean with a mild, fragrance-free cleanser. For 7-10 days, avoid water, steam, sweating, and makeup. Change your pillowcase on the same day to reduce infection risk. Avoid sun exposure, tanning, and chemical peels for 2 weeks, and use the healing ointment recommended by your technician.
A touch-up is required 4 to 8 weeks after your initial permanent makeup application. After that, touch-ups are typically recommended every 1-3 years, depending on factors like skin type, lifestyle, and the treatment area. Fading is natural over time, and regular touch-ups help maintain the color and shape.
Permanent makeup is not recommended for individuals with active skin conditions, certain medical conditions (like uncontrolled diabetes or blood disorders), or a history of keloid scarring. Pregnant or breastfeeding individuals should consult their healthcare provider first. It's also not suitable for those with allergies to makeup pigments or sensitive skin.
To achieve the best results, any previous permanent makeup or cosmetic tattoo work done by another professional must be fully removed before the appointment. Existing pigments can vary in color and technique, which may interfere with creating a natural, consistent result. Removal ensures a clean canvas for optimal outcome.
